Specification Technologist

Who Are We, and What Do We Do?

Avara Foods is one of the UK’s leading food businesses, supplying chicken and turkey to the country’s major supermarkets and well-known restaurants.

We own and manage our entire supply chain, from farms to factory and all the way to the customer door—meaning we offer careers spanning a wide range of functions. We have major processing sites across England and Wales, alongside an agricultural network of over 350 farms, stretching from North Yorkshire to the South Coast and Wales.

Purpose of the Role

As a Specification Technologist, you will:

  • Create high-quality specifications for a range of customers
  • Thoroughly review and approve artwork, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
  • Build strong working relationships across customer and internal teams

This is a predominately office-based role, but you will sometimes enter the factory environment—including exposure to refrigerated, noisy conditions. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
