About JDM Food Group

Founded in 1999 and rooted in Lincolnshire, JDM Food Group began by sourcing premium garlic and ginger—since then, we’ve evolved into Smart Flavourists®, expertly transforming high-quality ingredients into innovative sauces, pastes, marinades, and more. With state-of-the-art facilities and an integrated supply chain spanning ingredient sourcing to packaging, we deliver exceptional flavour solutions across the UK and Europe. Driven by food safety, sustainability, and innovation, we’re proud to create products that set the standard for quality and taste.

Specifications Technologist

We are looking for a detail-driven Specifications Technologist to join our Technical team at JDM Food Group. Based in our Technical and Operations office, this is a fast-paced, hands-on role that requires accuracy, focus, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. You’ll be responsible for creating and maintaining legally compliant, customer-approved product specifications that meet both internal and retailer standards.

This is a site-based role at our Bicker facility, reporting to the Specifications Manager, and working full-time (40 hours per week), Monday–Friday. It’s an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in food manufacturing who enjoys working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver excellence in food safety, compliance, and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate product specifications for major UK retailers, foodservice, out-of-home, and manufacturing clients.
  • Approve packaging copy and artwork, ensuring legal accuracy and alignment with customer brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with NPD, Technical, Commercial, and Process teams to guide product launches and maintain critical paths.
  • Complete specifications for all finished products in line with customer deadlines and internal schedules.
  • Verify ingredient, recipe, and nutritional data for accuracy and consistency across systems.
  • Stay up to date with UK and EU food legislation, allergen policies, and customer Codes of Practice.
  • Act as the first point of contact for technical specification queries, resolving issues efficiently.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments on allergens, claims, and multi-ingredient formulations.
  • Participate in factory trials to ensure production feasibility and alignment with specifications.
  • Ensure internal systems maintain robust, traceable data and are audit ready at all times.
  • Work with systems such as Oracle, Insight, Hamilton Grant, Smart Supplier, and Foods Connected.
  • Support the Specifications Manager and team with day-to-day operations, and provide cover when required.
  • Represent the team during internal, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across data entry, compliance, and systems integration.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure specifications are approved by all relevant stakeholders.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
