Spectral Geoscientist
Location: Optional: Geotek Head Office, Daventry, UK or Rockwash Geodata Head Office, Llandudno, UK (With occasional overseas travel)
About the role: Geotek Ltd is seeking an experienced Spectral Geoscientist to join our team. As the technical authority for infrared spectroscopy applications, you will play a critical role in interpreting geological datasets, supporting our clients, and advancing our next-generation hyperspectral imaging capability. You will work cross-functionally with both our Software and Research and Development teams, directly at the interface between hardware, software and geoscience. You will help shape the development of industry-leading spectral workflows in geoscience.
Primary responsibilities: Lead spectral data interpretation for geological applications using infrared spectroscopy Keep abreast of key statistical and machine learning techniques for the analysis of spectral data, and work with our data science team to implement these approaches in our software stack Provide technical leadership in the development of our hyperspectral visualisation software Support internal projects and communicate with clients to deliver tailored spectral insights Build and develop an international presence through engagement with the research community, including participation in conferences Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and workshops across multidisciplinary teams Collaborate with the Consultancy, Services, and R&D teams
Candidate requirements: Master's or PhD degree in Geology, Geological Sciences, Remote Sensing, or related field Several years of experience in spectral geology, including field and lab-based project delivery Proven expertise with spectral interpretation software Familiarity with advanced analytics, including machine learning and statistical modelling Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate in complex geological contexts Comfortable managing projects, meeting deadlines, and communicating with technical/non-technical audiences Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, in particular Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint Fluency in English (written and verbal) Must have a full and clean driving license Eligibility to work in the UK. Additionally, Brazil or Southeast Asia desirable but not essential

First round interviews are expected to take place the week commencing 03/08/2026. These will be 30 minute, online informal interviews.
Second round interviews will be conducted in the weeks following this, these will be in-person interviews and will be held at our premises in Daventry.
