About the Role
We are seeking Transport Planners/Development Planners with a strong development-related transport planning background to join our Development team across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Work on a range of projects, including commercial, retail, and residential developments, as well as transport strategies, masterplans, and expert witness evidence.
- Support private sector clients with taking development proposals through the planning process.
- Assist public sector clients in developing transport and parking strategies and scheme development.
- Collaborate with Highways, Services, Structures, and Environmental teams to lead multi-disciplinary development proposals.

Daily Duties & Growth Opportunities
- Provide technical transport planning input for development planning projects, including:
- Project management and leadership on applicable tasks.
- Mentoring Early Career Professionals to support project delivery.
- Lead/support small to medium-scale transport planning projects, while collaborating with senior colleagues on complex multi-disciplinary schemes.
- Develop commercial skills and expand your professional network to aid business development.

Requirements
Essential Experience & Skills
You will need to demonstrate: ✔ Expertise in leading technical work among:
- Transport Assessments, Travel Plans
- Access strategies, parking strategies
- Sustainable transport & active travel provision
- Application of key guidance (e.g., NPPF, DfT Transport Assessment Guidelines, Manual for Streets) ✔ Ability to prepare traffic flow information for Transport Assessments and Environmental Statements ✔ Proficiency in junction capacity modelling software (e.g., Junctions 10, Linsig), including selection of inputs, outputs, and scenario testing ✔ Experience in project management (budgeting, resource allocation, invoicing) on small to medium projects ✔ Capacity to design priority junctions, roundabouts, and signals (conceptual and supervised where applicable) ✔ Strong communication skills to engage with clients, project teams, stakeholders ✔ Mentoring capability, particularly for Early Career Professionals ✔ Competence in daily software such as Excel, Word ✔ A growing professional network of peers and clients ✔ Postgraduate experience in transport-related fields with a specialised knowledge base
Ideal Qualifications
- Chartered status (or pursuit thereof) in a transport-related discipline
