Instructional Aide – Special Education (SPED) – Riverside Academy – Cincinnati, Ohio

About the Team

ACCEL Schools is seeking a SPED Instructional Aide for Riverside Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio for the 2026–2027 school year.

Join Riverside Academy, a well-established public charter school near the Ohio River and Emhoff Woods Nature Preserve, serving westside Cincinnati since 2003. EK–8th grade students receive a well-rounded, college-prep education with hands-on, social-emotional learning. Known for its close-knit and nurturing environment, Riverside fosters strong teacher-student relationships and community partnerships.

Riverside Academy is part of ACCEL Schools, an established public charter network serving K–12 students nationwide since 2014.


About the Opportunity

The SPED Instructional Aide assists the Teacher in classroom activities, supports positive student behavior, and ensures student safety in both academics and extracurricular settings.

The Aide works in alignment with ACCEL Schools’ philosophy, the school’s board, the State Board of Education, and all applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates closely with the Teacher to implement lessons, both 1:1 and in small groups
  • Supports the Teacher in parent-student relations and classroom management
  • Participates in school events, including:
    • Parent-faculty nights
    • Faculty meetings
    • Assemblies
    • Commencement exercises
    • Fundraisers
    • Student activity chaperoning & guidance
    • Faculty committees

  • Performs clerical tasks, such as:

    • Grading assignments
    • Making copies as needed
  • Assists with classroom technology under the Teacher’s guidance

  • Maintains cleanliness in the classroom, lunchroom, and other school spaces

  • Upholds and applies the school’s mission and policies in all activities

  • Additional tasks as assigned (e.g., field trips, morning/dismissal/lunch monitoring)


Performance Expectations

  • Demonstrates strong teamwork with school staff
  • Adheres to directions from Administrators and Teachers
  • Contributes to a positive learning culture through professionalism and accountability

About You

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate degree, two years of college coursework, or successful completion of the Paraprofessional Exam
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Office)
  • Cleared BCI (Background Check) and FBI Criminal History Record Check
  • Ability to meet Ohio’s educational Paraprofessional standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Physical ability to lift 25–40 lbs.
  • Experience in education or social services preferred
