Speech and Language Therapist – Part-Time Position

Ingfield Manor School is a non-maintained special school, part of Salutem Care and Education. The group provides services across England and Wales, supporting adults and young people in residential and educational settings.

Key Educational Offerings

Our IMS provision serves students aged 3–19 with:

  • Neurological motor impairments (e.g., Cerebral Palsy)
  • Associated medical and sensory needs, delivered through Conductive Education, which focuses on holistic development—including physical and communication skills.

Our Woodview provision supports secondary-aged students with:

  • Speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN)
  • Autistic spectrum conditions (ASC)

About The Role

Hours: 10 hours per week (term time only) Salary:

  • £18.85 – £20.85 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Pro rata equivalent: £8,407.10 – £9,299.10 per year (Full-Time Equivalent: £39,208 – £43,368)

We are seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to support pupils with diverse communication needs in our specialist school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver individual and group communication programmes aligned with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)
  • Assess and support pupils with speech, language, and communication needs
  • Implement and develop Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) strategies and resources (both low-tech and high-tech solutions)
  • Support safe eating and drinking practices, in line with school policy
  • Contribute to curriculum development and uphold a whole-school communication strategy
  • Collaborate across a multidisciplinary team, liaising with:
    • Staff
    • Families
    • External professionals
  • Prepare high-quality reports and attend team reviews and meetings
  • Provide physical, emotional, and intimate care as required (where applicable)
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registered Speech and Language Therapist (or on track for registration)
  • Strong assessment, planning, and communication skills
  • Experience with SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disability) and EHCPs (desirable)
  • Experience (or expertise) in AAC (desirable)
  • Commitment to safeguarding and professional standards

Additional Considerations

  • The role involves physical activity (e.g., assisting students, moving equipment)
  • Ongoing training and development are encouraged
  • Enhanced DBS checks are mandatory
