Our Purpose

Unlocking Potential is the charity that supports schools and communities to ensure no child or family struggles alone with their social, emotional and mental health needs. We provide flexible, over-time, multi-disciplinary therapeutic support that meets children and families where they are, and enables them to feel safe, understood and the best version of themselves.

Vision

Everyone feels supported, equipped and able to achieve their potential.

Mission

Our mission is to provide tailored therapeutic support to more children, while training the practitioners of the future to build holistic, resilient social systems that equip children and their families with the confidence, tools, and skills to thrive at school and within their communities.

Values

Individual: Everything we do is about the individual and what is right for them - no two children, families or schools are the same.

Innovative: We look for new solutions, evolving our thinking and approach - ensuring the use of bold, co-designed practice.

Collaborative: We choose to work with others to find the best solutions - we are stronger together.

About the role:

This is an exciting time for our charity! Our new strategy focuses on growth and long-term sustainability, with ambitious plans to extend our reach and impact nationally and to expand and diversify our services. Our long-term ambition for the future is a transformed landscape of multi-disciplinary therapeutic support in schools, with UP acknowledged and recognised as a thought-leader, innovator, preferred collaborator and convener.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

A role within our SaLT team is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about transforming children's life chances through a truly tailored and child-centred approach. The children we typically support are those with mild to moderate social communication needs. These are the children that don't meet the criteria for community paediatric and CAMHS services and are often at significant risk of developing mental health and behavioural difficulties later on in life. We also offer EHCP work for more complex cases.

Our SaLTs are central to delivering high-quality and flexible Speech and Language therapy interventions and support to pupils and our partner schools. Responsibilities include conducting thorough assessments, delivering high-quality clinical work, and supporting impact measurement and service development by ensuring accurate notes and data records, and the provision of quality reports. Safeguarding is a key priority throughout all aspects of our work.

This is a school-based role working independently and flexibly across a range of London schools and boroughs throughout the week. Playing an active role within school communities, this role requires the ability to adapt to different educational settings and build positive relationships within varied school teams and cultures. Our service runs during school term-time, and there will be 4 additional weeks during school holidays allocated to non-clinical work (e.g. report writing, administration, CPD etc.)

These roles are ideal for clinicians who are motivated to work in an innovative and collaborative way, and who value multidisciplinary team (MDT) working to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and their families.

Please see the Job Description and Person Specification for further information regarding the responsibilities of this role.

Making your application:

Please make your application by submitting your CV, along with a cover letter which clearly demonstrates how you meet the person specification criteria (we will be shortlisting candidates closely against the person specification). We will keep you updated on your application by email, and will let you know about anything you will need to prepare if you are shortlisted.
