Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist – Community Paediatrics (FixedTerm, Full-Time)

The Role
We’re delighted to offer a fixed-term, full-time opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community Paediatric Team in West Dunbartonshire. Based at The Vale Centre for Health and Care, you will work across a diverse region, supporting children, young people, and families with complex communication needs.

Location & Working Pattern
- Base: The Vale Centre for Health and Care, West Dunbartonshire
- Hours: Monday to Friday (full-time, fixed-term)

Key Responsibilities

Case Management:
- Manage and prioritise a specialist paediatric caseload of children and young people with complex speech, language, and communication needs.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and diagnoses for evidence-based therapy interventions.

Clinical Delivery:
- Design and implement individualised therapy programmes, including interventions for neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., autistic spectrum conditions, developmental language disorder, cleft palate).
- Work collaboratively with families, education staff, and multidisciplinary teams (occupational therapy, paediatrics, psychology) to deliver personalised care plans.

Support & Training:
- Contribute to training, coaching, and supervision of colleagues, support staff, and partners (e.g., early years services, schools).
- Participate in service development, audit, research, and pre-referral activity to enhance patient outcomes.

Record-Keeping & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate clinical records, reports, and data in alignment with NHSGGC/NMC/HCPC standards.
Requirements
Essential Criteria:
✅ Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent professional qualification) ✅ Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) ✅ Significant experience working with paediatric caseloads, including those with complex communication needs (e.g., Fest, guidance on IEP support) ✅ In-depth knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders and a range of speech, language, and communication difficulties ✅ Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in multi-agency settings ✅ Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with a commitment to reflective practice
Additional Requirements:
🚗 Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential for remote visits) 🔒 Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme (required)
