Job Title: Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist – Community Teams

Banding: Band 7 (Capped)

Location: Shrewsbury, Telford, and Oswestry

Start Date: ASAP

Working Hours: 7.5-hour shifts, Monday to Friday (Full-time, 37.5 hours per week)

Contract Type: Locum – 3 months with potential of contract extension.

Speciality: Community Speech and Language Therapy

Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking an experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join community teams across Shrewsbury, Telford, and Oswestry. This locum role offers a full-time schedule over 3 months, providing essential support to patients in community settings.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality speech and language therapy services, with a particular focus on dysphagia management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment and intervention for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties
  • Deliver therapy across multiple community sites (Shrewsbury, Telford, Oswestry)
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to support patient care
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional standards
  • Support service delivery and contribute to reducing waiting times

Requirements

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (required)
  • HCPC registration (required)
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (required)
  • Dysphagia competence (essential)
  • Car driver preferred due to community travel requirements
  • Strong communication and clinical reasoning skills
