Speech and Language Therapy Assistant Practitioner

With the benefit of additional funding, we are delighted to be recruiting two Speech and Language Therapy Assistants to join our busy and supportive Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service in Redbridge. This role is ideal whether you’re bringing previous experience or taking your first step into a career in speech and language therapy.

Main duties of the job

Role

Speech and Language Therapy Assistants play a vital role in the efficient delivery of services for children, young people and their families. As a Speech and Language Therapy assistant in our service, you will:

  • Support the delivery of care across a range of settings
  • Work within a highly skilled, supportive and diverse team
  • Assist with delivering groups, therapy interventions and training for families and education staff
  • Support the preparation of resources to be shared with children, their families and education settings
  • Opportunities to work across different areas of the service as needed
  • Be part of an innovative service that continually adapts to meet the needs of service users

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

We ask that applicants have at least 3 years of experience working with children within a nursery, pre-school or school setting and a knowledge of planning and target setting for speech and language.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).
