Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist – Paediatrics (SEMH)

Location: Milton Keynes

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £48,226–£52,413 per annum (FTE)

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist educational setting in Milton Keynes. This permanent opportunity is based within a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) environment, supporting children and young people with communication needs and associated learning, emotional and behavioural challenges.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan and deliver speech and language therapy interventions that enable pupils to achieve their communication potential and access learning effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a specialist paediatric SEMH caseload.
  • Complete comprehensive speech, language and communication assessments.
  • Develop and implement individualised therapy programmes.
  • Provide advice, support and training to school staff and families.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and reports.

Requirements

  • HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience working with children and young people.
  • Knowledge of SEMH and associated communication needs.
  • Strong assessment, therapy and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an educational setting.
