I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the Role
Our dynamic multidisciplinary team includes Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants, a Clinical Nurse Specialist, and a Family Liaison Lead. The team also supports Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy apprentices as they develop their professional skills. Therapists are supported to grow and develop their areas of clinical interest, including opportunities to further specialise where training aligns with the needs of our pupils. We operate a three-tier model of provision, and our department is well resourced, with access to a comprehensive range of assessments and digital tools.
The role offers flexibility, with the option to work full-time hours during term time or to work part of the school holiday periods to support administrative tasks, assessments, and reports. Attendance at INSET days and pupil days is expected.
