Speech & Language Therapist
Speech and language therapist – autism specialist

Looking for an experienced practitioner to join Rossendale School in Ramsbottom as our Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
About The Role
Location: School-based role in Ramsbottom Role purpose: Progress Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) services for young people with Autism diagnoses and other associated conditions. Deliver holistic, integrated therapeutic support within a multi-disciplinary team.
Core responsibilities:
- Advise, assess, and implement bespoke intervention plans tailored to pupils' needs.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Workers, Creative Therapists, and School Counsellors to ensure a coordinated approach.
- Contribute to staff training, consultation, and reflective practice within a nurturing environment.
- Represent Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) in multi-disciplinary settings, guiding policy development and standards.
- Maintain clear and concise report writing for oversight purposes.

About The School
Rossendale School serves young people aged 7–18 with Autism and complex needs (social-emotional, mental health comorbidities) who can access an academic curriculum. Our multi-disciplinary team provides a nurturing and therapeutic environment to support pupils’ development.
Logistics:
- Employment is on-site at our school.
- A valid driving licence is required due to remoteness.
Who Are We Looking For?
A motivated, resilient clinician with:
- A clear vision of excellence in SALT services for autism.
- Demonstrated leadership in multi-professional collaboration.
- Experience developing procedures, policies, and innovations in therapeutic care.
Essential Criteria
✅ Professional qualification: Valid recognition in Speech and Language Therapy. ✅ Registration: Registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council). ✅ Experience: Minimum therapist-level practice with Autism/similar client groups or acute neurodiversity. ✅ Team involvement: Proven ability to represent SALT in multi-disciplinary settings ( výchova, agency partnerships). ✅ Policy development: Experience reviewing/revising standards, policies/procedures where above delivered. ✅ Documentation: Skilled in clear communication via report writing, recommendations, and summaries.
