Spinal Injury Support Worker
Location: Cardiff
Salary: £16.25 – £17.88 per hour (depending on shift)
Job Type: Zero-hour contract
Shifts Available:
- Day shifts: 8am–8pm
- Sleeping night shifts: 8pm–8am
Rotation:
- Week One: Friday sleep shift, Saturday & Sunday day shifts
- Week Two: Monday, Tuesday and Saturday sleep shifts (subject to change)
About the Role
We are seeking experienced and dedicated Spinal Injury Support Workers to join our new client in Cardiff, working on a 2:1 ratio with emphasis on overnight shift support. This role will enable you to help our client achieve greater independence and quality of life, guided by confidence, empathy, and strong relational trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting)
- Catheter care & bowel management support
- Respiratory management, including cough assist and suctioning
- Autonomic Dysreflexia management
- Preparing and presenting meals, supporting nutrition
- Administering medication (training provided)
- Emotional support and companionship
- Mobility and physical activity assistance
- Light housekeeping duties

Role Requirements
- Proven experience in similar support worker roles, particularly with spinal injury care, catheter, and bowel management
- Genuine caring and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong ability to work independently while contributing as part of a team
- Valid UK driving licence, with WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) experience preference (minimum age 25 years old due to insurance requirements)
