The Company

Our client, Yamazaki Mazak is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years.

Jonathan Lee Workforce Solutions are the preferred supplier to Mazak and are seeking a Spindle Tester.

Job Description

The role is mainly (but not limited to) checking and testing Mazak spindles to new standards and will involve various assembly and test-related tasks related to spindles such as:

  • Electrical assembly work is required to connect each spindle to the test rig in the correct and safe manner.
  • Electrical checks of stators (new and reused/repaired) to ensure conformance to standard Mazak check sheets.
  • Setting up spindles for testing and operating NC controls.
  • Precision adjustment related to Mazak work instructions.
  • Carrying out various quality checks during the testing process involving precision equipment such as micrometers, testbars, dial test indicators, clampforce and axial force gauges.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Background in precision engineering or electrical assembly.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and good communication, attention to detail.
  • Organised, able to plan ahead and good ability to follow written procedures.
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances using hand tools and measuring equipment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Apprentice trained.
  • Good understanding of mechanical component drawings and assemblies.
  • Previous experience of electrical systems / NC controls.
  • Good understanding of testing electrical motors and fault finding.
  • Previous experience with vernier calipers, depth mics, force gauges and micrometers.
  • Previous experience of Mazak spindles.
