Splicer - Network Maintenance
Your Mission: Splicer – Network Maintenance (GB)
We are recruiting to join our team as a Splicer – Network Maintenance, ensuring the upkeep and repair of our fibre infrastructure across Cumbria.
About the Role
The ideal candidate must possess both splicing and cable expertise and demonstrate hands-on experience in each area. This reactive and proactive role involves emergency fieldwork, including weekend on-call responsibilities, as part of a rotating schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain fibre infrastructure to current PIA standards
- Conduct fibre cabling and splicing repairs for damages and faults, particularly on overhead networks
- Use OTDRs, light meters, splicing equipment & fault-finding tools to test, diagnose and troubleshoot networks
- Identify and resolve issues ranging from individual fibres to broader operational failures
- Diligently document all repairs and faults via internal systems
- Adhere strictly to H&S guidelines, risk assessments and technical procedures
- Ensure accurate equipment maintenance, including tools and vehicles
- Follow maintenance schedules efficiently to meet operational deadlines

Core Requirements
Technical Skills & Experience
- Proficient in Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) processes
- Hands-on experience in fibre cabling, splicing and fault debugging
- Experience working with overhead infrastructure (poles, ladders, working at height)
- Ability to operate fibre testing equipment (OTDRs, light meters) and interpret results
