Splicer - Network Maintenance
Your mission
The Splicer - Network Maintenance (GB) will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of fibre network infrastructure in Cumbria. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in fiber splicing, cabling, and fault-fixing, including both overhead and underground systems.
The Role
- Upkeep and maintain fibre infrastructure to the current PIA standards
- Conduct and repair cabling and splicing for faults and damage, primarily on overhead networks
- Test, diagnose, and troubleshoot fibre network issues using equipment such as:
- OTDR
- Light meter
- Splitting kits (and other appropriate tools)
- Identify and resolve individual and wider network problems efficiently
- Accurately document all damage, repairs, and works through internal company systems
- Strict adherence to:
- All health and safety procedures
- Risk assessments
- Best work practices
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of:
- Tools
- Equipment
- Vehicles
- Follow maintenance schedules to optimise efficiency and meet operational deadlines
- Support overall health and safety compliance across the business

Operational Note: This role includes proactive maintenance and is subject to reactive, fault-based work, including weekend and on-call rotas where needed.

Core Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) process
- Proven experience in:
- Fibre cabling
- Splicing techniques
- Fault finding/diagnostics
- Hands-on experience with overhead infrastructure, including:
- Poles
- Ladders
- Working at height
- Ability to operate and interpret results from fibre testing equipment
