Profile Summary

Mizuho’s Sponsor Coverage & Leveraged Finance (‘SC&LF) team is a leading participant in the European leveraged loan market, with a strong reputation, broad access to new deal flow and a substantial balance sheet dedicated to the asset class. The SC&LF Portfolio Management team participates in financing transactions for private equity and corporate clients and actively manages a portfolio of leveraged loans and sponsor-backed infrastructure assets across a broad range of sectors. The team also provides ongoing credit monitoring and day-to-day portfolio management support for a portfolio of leveraged loans held within the Stratum managed account platform. This role will primarily focus on the management of a sponsor-backed infrastructure portfolio, including ongoing credit and financing monitoring, portfolio management activities, and transaction-related requests following the origination of the financing. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, highly numerate individual with a client-focused mindset. A strong foundation in credit analysis, together with proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and sensitivity analysis, is essential.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Actively manage own portfolio of mainly sponsor-backed infrastructure as well as leverage loan assets (from time to time) and assist and manage Analysts on portfolio requests, as required.
  • Provide timely updates to the head of portfolio management on deal related developments and where necessary providing updates and recommendations on strategy to senior management.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of any ongoing internal reporting requirements (ratings, credit reviews) and work closely with middle and back office(s) to ensure ongoing management of loan facilities.
  • Provide day-to-day control and support all aspects of the deal process.
  • Develop/strengthen relationships with key portfolio clients and external counterparties.
  • Provide general support to other team members where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
