About the Role
Ideal for firefighters, veterans from the Armed Forces, or those seeking a complete career transition — we are looking for people to join us as Sponsored Reserve Firefighters.
This is more than just a job. It’s a combination of civilian firefighting with military purpose, supporting Defence efforts across the UK and overseas. You’ll train, be supported, and trusted to make an impact.

Job Description
Mission and Structure
You’ll join a mission-critical team supporting both UK and overseas Defence operations, delivering firefighting and rescue services in high-pressure environments.
Reservation pattern:
- 4 months overseas
- 16 months in the UK
This gives you the chance to experience structured work with variety and purpose, while contributing to real-world missions.

Requirements to Join Us
You will need to demonstrate the following to apply:
- Be a UK, Republic of Ireland, or Commonwealth citizen
- Born a dual national and hold UK citizenship, or be born as a Commonwealth citizen
- Have lived at least 5 years in the UK (in some cases, 3 years may suffice)
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Meet the fitness standards for firefighting including corrective exercises guidance:
- Ability to pass selection and pre-joining tests
- Meet medical and health standards, including vision and health checks
- Commit to sit situational and behavioural assessments; passport number and background security checks
All applicants must show they will exhibit the right mindset and commitment, along with meeting the geographical and EU accessibility criteria.

- Starting Salary: £30,954 (rising to £34,823 after full training)
- Over £7,000 deployment payment for each overseas assignment
