Sponsorship Programme Manager (0462)

The Role

The Sponsorship Programme Manager leads the sponsorship of a portfolio of projects through engagement with clients and delivery teams to ensure enhancements to transport assets and services support Transport for Wales (TfW) development objectives.

Role Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the sponsorship of projects by ensuring asset enhancements and service changes are delivered against clear client requirements for scope, timeline, and budget to realise improvements to Wales transport networks.
  • Take accountability for the governance of sponsorship through structured lifecycle methodologies and a high standard of deliverables to demonstrate control.
  • Deliver added value by identifying opportunities for additional benefits to support improvements in customer experience.
  • Promote a collaborative approach to project delivery by working closely with delivery teams and third parties to ensure projects manage risks effectively and deliver against requirements.
  • Support internal teams and external stakeholders responsible for regional strategy development and delivery of project business cases by maintaining positive engagement to ensure new schemes are assessed for impacts on transport operations.
  • Lead the oversight of adherence to Common Safety Methods by endorsement of system safety assurance deliverables to ensure TfW continues to deliver projects safely.
  • Be an escalation point for the team by using processes and delegated authority to effectively resolve issues and maintain delivery against client requirements.
  • Represent the programme to the Executive Leadership Teams, Welsh Government and relevant stakeholders to provide assurance of progress and the escalation of any issues for resolution when required.
  • Lead and mentor the sponsorship team by maintaining assessment of workload, skills and competencies, team engagement and personal development plans to support an effective and motivated team.
  • Develop and maintain a level of excellence in sponsorship by maintaining own professional development to stay abreast of regulatory changes and developments in best practice.

Who We're Looking For

  • Educated to degree level with equivalent experience
  • Experience of sponsoring and or delivering projects using infrastructure processes such as GRIP (Guide to Railway Investment Projects) or RIBA.
  • Experience of leading and managing high value investment schemes.
  • Experience of effective stakeholder management.
  • Experience of team leadership and people management in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience of managing complex risks and the delivery of effective mitigation actions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal) with good influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in support of a strong safety culture.

Welsh Language Skills

While not essential for this role, Welsh language skills would make a great addition to your application.
