Are you a driven and dependable Sports Coach ready to make a real difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
Reeson Education are looking for a confident Sports Coach to join an Independent SEMH School in Rotherham (S65) starting from September 2026. This rewarding role is ideal for an energetic and resilient individual who can use sport and physical activity to inspire, motivate, and positively engage pupils while promoting confidence, teamwork, and emotional wellbeing.
About The Sports Coach Role
As a Sports Coach, you will deliver engaging PE lessons, structured sports activities, and intervention sessions that encourage participation, improve physical wellbeing, and develop essential life skills. You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support pupils with SEMH needs, using sport as a positive tool for learning and personal development.
Key Responsibilities As Sports Coach
- Sports and Physical Activity Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging sports sessions, PE activities, and fitness programmes tailored to pupils' individual abilities and needs.
- Positive Behaviour Support: Promote positive behaviour, resilience, teamwork, and self-regulation through structured sporting activities and clear expectations.
- Student Engagement: Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging participation, confidence, motivation, and personal achievement.
- Progress Monitoring: Monitor pupils' physical, social, and emotional development, providing regular feedback to teaching and pastoral teams.
- Collaborative Working: Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, SEN professionals, and families to support pupils' overall development and wellbeing.

To Succeed As a Sports Coach, You Will Need
- Experience in sports coaching, PE, youth work, SEMH, or similar educational settings.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence managing behaviour positively within an SEMH environment.
- A resilient, patient, and proactive approach to supporting young people.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness through Reeson Education.
