As part of Elavon’s legacy of innovation, we seek a Core Banking Data Engineer to design, implement, and operationalise the financial grade data platforms that deliver accuracy, auditability, and real-time insights for Finance, Risk, Operations, Product, and Regulatory reporting.
About the Role
We are contributing to the future of banking by building a cloud-native core banking platform, but our success depends on data. Our DevOps and data teams refactor aging ERPs with a modern data stack, ensuring high-integrity pipelines, event streaming, and ledger accuracy—while eliminating disparate siloed systems.
Our ideal candidate thrives in high-stakes regulated environments, joining a team reimagining how systems interact:
- Design & Build: Architecture data foundations with Cloud Data Platforms, Audit-ready pipelines, stateless message processing, and stateful models—leveraging LEDGER CONCEPTS and FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONAL SYSTEMS.
- Cloud-Native Resilience: Build and automate observable pipelines and robust idempotency mechanisms to handle financial anomaly detection.
- Strategic Ownership: Rotate across development, operations, and remediation to ensure compact data lifecycle compliance (retention, masking, GDPR, and fraud detection).
- Empower Teams: Translate business/index/data needs into self-serve platforms that support Risk, FraudML, Regulatory reporting and operational resilience.
You will engage with core teams to refine service-level agreements and integrate data into broader product ecosystems—ensuring components produced today will effectively transform U.S. Bank’s multi-billion-frames-per-hour heavy tradicionation systems.

Job Responsibilities
1. Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Design and implement data ingestion and transformation for core banking domains: accounts, balances, transactions, posting, interest calculations/fees, limits, arrears/delinquency monitoring, lifecycle events, and dynamic product parameters.
- Ledger Engineering:
- Create double-entry ledger architectures, aligning sub-ledger account assignments (sets, cross reference tables) with general ledger (GL) reconciliation.
- Model available/cleared balances and implement transaction confirmation mechanisms (ie: journeably compositions).
- Canonization Patterns: Establish trusted "golden sources" for core entities (customer, transaction, ledger, product).
- Ledger Engineering:
- Build data structures supporting event-driven processing (Kafka, Debezium) with idempotency and reprocessing-ready schemas.

2. Streaming, Integrations & Data Movement Manage event platforms that connect:
- Internal systems: account core, ledger/journals hotspots
- Plugins: Payments, Cards, AML/KYC, Fraud/Midfinder, and notification workflows
3. Data Platform & Operability
- Infrastructure as Code: Cloud deployments (AWS/AZ/GCP) for data pipelines, compute clusters, desktoping prepared for scripting assistants.
- Resilience Training: Develop agile cadences for daily incident response, define fusing triggers, KPI monitoring and DR scripts.
4. Delivery, Documentation & Collaboration
- Translate financial use-cases into datasets/marts/APIs used for adherence, tax, risk and BI reporting.
- Document standards consistently across evolutionary schema registries, auditability workflows, and reconciliation policies.
5. Data Quality, Controls & Reconciliation
- Implement meta-validations validated through financial hierarchies:
- Account totals, cash aggregations, settlement flows.
- Automated control checks and reporting strikes.
- Audit trails: Facilitate exhaustive explainability in_regulatory filings_, using event flows and agnostic query tracing.
6. Security & Privacy Principles
- Integrate Retention & Encryption: guarantee PAS-approved hardening (downgrading, rights plug-ins, bagging flows for personal/data sensitive fields).
