Pay Range: $22.90 - $28.62/hr.

Workdays & Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm, Some evening/weekend work may be required.
This is a full-time temporary position approved through February 29, 2028, with continued employment based upon funding availability.

A Sr. Account Technician job is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department Customer Care Division Credit & Collections Section.
The ideal candidate will have extensive customer service experience to include a variety of work experience dealing with the City’s billing processes, policies and procedures. The position requires a high attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects effectively, and possess strong problem solving skills and time management skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree with major course work in accounting, finance or related field
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible technical accounting experience involving customer accounts and billing
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience in accounting, accounts receivable, or a related financial field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two (2) years of experience managing accounts receivable, performing bank reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and maintaining accurate financial records
- Two (2) years of customer service experience, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external customers
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)

The Sr. Account Technician job responsibilities include:
- Perform a variety of accounting and accounts receivable functions, including moderately complex account reconciliations, while ensuring compliance with financial policies, accounting standards, and departmental procedures
- Oversee and monitor cash deposits, accounts receivable transactions, and general ledger activities to ensure accuracy, proper internal controls, and adherence to City policies and procedures
- Review and monitor daily receipts, returned payments, and bank activity, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed
- Research and resolve customer utility account inquiries in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide professional face-to-face customer service and assistance when needed
Working Conditions and Physical Demand
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
