Sr Compliance / Regulatory Analyst - Information Lifecycle Management
Senior Compliance Analyst (Hybrid – Minneapolis, MN / Appleton, WI)
A hybrid position requiring onsite presence as needed in either Minneapolis, MN or Appleton, WI.
This role is responsible for:
- Analyzing and applying complex regulatory and compliance requirements to Thrivent’s business practices
- Ensuring appropriate regulatory processes and controls are established and functioning effectively
The position interprets detailed and nuanced regulatory and compliance requirements, translating expertise into practical consultancy for business partners while helping to mitigate risks.
The Senior Compliance Analyst will also support and administer Thrivent’s Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) program, including:
- Records retention
- Policy and procedure maintenance
- Control testing
- Cross-functional partnership-building to ensure retention requirements are properly implemented
This role handles complex compliance and audit documentation, with deep responsibility for compliance, investigative support, and audit readiness.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Core Obligations
- Gathers and synthesizes information from multiple sources, conducting research through regulatory databases, legal tools, and industry resources.
- Applies regulatory knowledge to business decisions, procedures, and risk communications to recommend appropriate actions.
- Clearly communicates findings, regulatory impacts, associated risks, and recommendations in business-friendly terms.
- Partners with stakeholders to identify, remediate, and prevent compliance deficiencies.
- Performs testing, monitoring, and compliance audits on regulatory requirements.
- Serves as an internal subject matter expert for the Shared Services Law & Compliance team in ILM/Retention-related matters.
- Regularly engages with regulators and auditors to ensure alignment and compliance.
ILM/Retention-Specific Responsibilities
- Advises business units on data retention, disposition, decommissioning, de-identification, and deletion requirements.
- Creates, implements, and updates policies, procedures, retention schedules, and guidelines for ILM compliance.
- Monitors developments in laws and regulations relating to information retention principles.
- Conducts control testing in alignment with internal audit expectations.
- Manages vendor relationships for offsite storage processes and onsite document shredding.
- Updates employee training programs regarding ILM/Retention best practices.

About the Role
As a Senior Compliance Analyst, you will lead and collaborate across:
- In-house compliance programs
- Cross-functional regulatory engagements
- Internal audit and regulatory audit responses
- Operational process improvements

Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent substantial experience in a related field
- Experience: 3–10 years of directly related compliance/regulatory experience
- Specialized Skills:
- Deep knowledge of relevant industry laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks
- Experience with ILM, data retention, governance processes, and audit risk management
- Expertise in vendor management for document destruction and information security
- Technical Acumen: Familiarity with compliance documentation tools, regulatory databases, and legal research software.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range
Thrivent offers competitive compensation, with this full-time role offering an annual base pay range of $81,537.00 – $110,315.00. Final pay may be adjusted based on factors including location, experience, relevant market factors, and business needs.
