The Company PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.

We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person. PayPal is more than a connection to third-party payment networks. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.

We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources, which may include a bank account, a PayPal or Venmo account balance, PayPal and Venmo branded credit products, a credit card, a debit card, certain cryptocurrencies, or other stored value products such as gift cards, and eligible credit card rewards. Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other. We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Our beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We live each day guided by our core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness. Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do – and they push us to ensure we take care of ourselves, each other, and our communities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your Way to Impact

In this role, you will help drive profitable growth across PayPal’s full consumer product portfolio by transforming data into actionable insights that influence strategic decisions at every level of the organization. Your work will directly shape business performance by delivering scalable analytics, rigorous data science models, and data-driven recommendations that empower teams to make better decisions and create lasting value for our customers.

Your Day to Day

Lead advanced deep-dive analyses that go beyond surface-level reporting to produce crystal-clear narratives on the data science questions that matter most to the business — diagnosing unexpected trends, pressure-testing assumptions, and sizing new growth opportunities. Apply sophisticated quantitative methods — including machine learning, causal inference, synthetic controls, difference-in-differences, and propensity score matching — to answer complex business questions with statistical rigor. Build and own robust customer segmentation frameworks that reveal behaviorally distinct consumer cohorts, and translate those insights into concrete, segment-specific growth strategies. Analyze how consumer behavior evolves across PayPal’s full product ecosystem, quantifying the impact of cross-product attachment on engagement, retention, and monetization. Monitor key consumer funnel metrics — activation, engagement, retention, and monetization — across products, segments, and geographies, and explain drivers of change with speed and precision. Proactively surface new growth and optimization opportunities through analytics and financial modelling, developing rigorous business cases that quantify opportunity size and expected impact. Manage analytical projects end-to-end, from inception through delivery, ensuring quality, timeliness, and relevance to business objectives. Partner closely with Commercial, Product, Marketing, and Finance teams to inform and influence strategy, serving as a trusted analytical advisor to senior stakeholders. Leverage AI-native tools such as Claude and Claude Code to accelerate analysis, automate recurring workflows, and scale insight delivery across the consumer growth domain.

What You Need To Succeed The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and modelling capabilities with hands-on expertise in SQL, statistics, and data visualization.

Data-driven mindset with a degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics. 5–8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a closely related quantitative role, including hands-on experience analyzing large, multi-dimensional datasets. Expert fluency in SQL and Python; experience with statistical modelling, ML frameworks, and large-scale data processing. Demonstrated experience applying advanced data science methods including machine learning, causal inference, synthetic controls, or difference-in-differences in a business context. Proven ability to build and deploy models in both offline research and production environments. Stakeholder-facing experience, including managing relationships with senior business leaders and presenting analytical findings with confidence. Proficiency in visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau or Looker; ability to produce executive-ready PowerPoint presentations. Strong written and verbal communication skills to influence cross-functional teams. Ability to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities.

The Traits to Exceed

You are a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of projects, and is driven by curiosity and continuous learning. As part of a broader Consumer Analytics organization, you will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Commercial, Marketing, Finance, and Engineering, making strong collaboration, communication, and influencing skills essential for success.
