The Clinical Diagnostics Division (CDD) offers innovative diagnostic solutions across select In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) market segments, delivering advocacy in the industry for over 40 years. The division specialises in:

  • Drugs of abuse screening
  • Therapeutic drug monitoring
  • Quality control products
  • Sepsis and prenatal diagnostics
  • Advanced lab instrumentation
  • High-throughput automation equipment

Supplier to hospitals, pharmacies, and researchers, our products are distributed via direct sales, regional distributors, and OEM partnerships.

This role focuses on Europe, functioning as a senior Commercial leadership position within Thermo Fisher’s GCO (Global Commercial Operations) leadership team. It reports directly to the VP, GCO and engages extensively with BU Leaders to formulate and implement commercial strategies while driving long-term growth and profitability in Europe.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth Leadership

  • Develop and execute multi-year commercial strategies that enhance market share, revenue, and regional competitiveness.
  • Identify growth levers across Biomarkers, Niche Diagnostics, Analyzers, and Automation product portfolios, aligning divisions and priorities.
  • Prioritise opportunities and initiatives that maximise long-term value through investment priority and resource allocation.

Performance and Revenue Growth

  • Drive and concentrate on $100M+ annual revenue targets through coaching and scaling a 50+ strong sales team.
  • Cultivate executive leadership presence within a team while building a strong performance culture and succession bench.

Cross-Business Collaboration

  • Serve as CEO integrator for Europe, helping align Marketing, Commercial Operations, QA/RA, and Communications for a seamless throughput.
  • Strengthen Customer Allegiance Scores to foster brand loyalty and satisfaction.

Strategic Insights

  • Collaborate with IT, Portfolio Management, Pricing, Finance, and Portfolio Performance Institute (PPI) to ensure alignment.
  • Synthesise market trends, customer needs, funding dynamics, and competitor intelligence to anticipate and capitalise on high-impact opportunities.

Financial Leadership and Analytics

  • Provide market sizing, competitive benchmarking, and financial modelling expertise across divisions.
  • Partner closely with Finance to translate financial insights into actionable growth plans.

Organisational Development

  • Implement a metrics-driven culture, using KPIs and continuous improvement principles to drive accountability.
  • Redesign a customer-centric sales team, focusing on delivering enterprise and workflow-based solutions.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in diagnostics, life sciences, or a closely related field.

Experience

  • Healthcare life sciences industry experience is essential, preferably in sales leadership or operational leadership.
  • In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) sales experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven track record in impactful strategy, business development, and fiscal management with P&L responsibility.
  • Ability to procure support/results in a global, matrixed organisation without formal authority.
  • Facilitate senior-level client relationships backed by a strong customer/solutions orientation.
  • Demonstrate an ability to analyse complex issues, driving strategic decisions.
  • Outstanding leadership fit, with balanced finances, interpersonal skills, and collaboration.
  • Experience leading to sales performance results both operationally and from a cultural standpoint.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% when necessary.
