Description

EU Sustainability Engineering team is looking for a Sr Electrical Engineer to scale programs within the wider Amazon electrification transformation.

Core initiatives are the electrification of last mile and middle mile fleet and the implementation of technologies to maximize energy efficiency of our buildings. This requires to expand one of the largest private charging networks in the world and the definition of innovative electrical design to enable smart grids strategy.

Location available for this role are: Luxembourg, London, Milan

Key job responsibilities

  • Have full ownership of technologies’ standards for electrical equipment. Including development of standard design for core electrical equipment in partnership with manufacturers.
  • Perform design validation in order to ensure that various teams are respecting electrical standards during installation of electrical equipment.
  • Act as subject matter expert and support Field Engineering to prepare for the execution of installation on-site.
  • Align and set stakeholders’ expectations for the installation of the electrical infrastructure to serve the Electrical Vehicle (EV) charging network and/or the smart grid.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to drive technology roadmap for High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical infrastructure, including EV chargers, High-Low voltage substations, energy efficiency and IoT technologies (e.g. smart meters)
  • Write business cases and present them to leadership to get approval for the scoping of programs.
  • Actively contribute to coordinate project managers for large scale installation.
  • Ensure process improvement for commissioning, audit, value engineering, cost control.

A day in the life

Your day could include engagement with all levels of the organization and multiple stakeholder groups to drive short, mid and long term technical decisions that have impact at a large scale across the Amazon network. You would also be working with partners from Operations, RME, Health and Safety, Global Fleet Product, Finance, Procurement and external vendors with the scope to design and deploy electrical infrastructure in all EU Amazon's operational sites.

About The Team

EU Sustainability Engineering is responsible for the definition and the continuous improvement of electrical standards for EV charging network and smart grid solutions at Amazon. We ensure reliability of design and we obsess over costs since we believe that waste of resources is one of the major risks for all Sustainability actions. The scale of Amazon last mile network requires the team to establish close partnership with other teams, our customers are Operations, On Road (DSP) and RME teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience leading large projects through the full product development life cycle in a large, cross-functional team
  • Experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery, or experience in technical support

Preferred Qualifications

  • proficiency in one or more European languages
  • experience working with public grid operators
  • Chartered Electrical Engineer (CEng) or equivalent (depending on the country)
