Description

Powering the future of sustainable transportation — at Amazon scale.

The EU Sustainability Engineering team is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to drive the next chapter of Amazon's electrification transformation. This is your chance to shape the electrical infrastructure behind one of the largest private EV charging networks in the world.

Amazon is committed to building a sustainable future for our customers, communities, and the planet. Under The Climate Pledge, we committed to reaching net-zero carbon across our operations by 2040 — ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement. Achieving this requires people who don't just talk about impact, but engineer it.

Our core initiatives include electrifying last-mile and middle-mile delivery fleets, maximizing energy efficiency across our buildings, and pioneering smart grid strategies. You'll be at the heart of this — designing, standardizing, and scaling the electrical systems that make it all possible.

Locations: Luxembourg | London | Milan | Munich | Barcelona

Key job responsibilities

  • Own the standards. Define and maintain technology standards for electrical equipment across the network. Develop standardized designs for core infrastructure in partnership with leading manufacturers.
  • Validate and protect quality. Perform design validation to ensure installation teams meet electrical standards — catching issues before they reach the field.
  • Be the expert in the room. Act as the subject matter expert supporting Field Engineering teams as they prepare for on-site execution.
  • Align stakeholders. Set clear expectations across teams for the installation of EV charging infrastructure and smart grid systems.
  • Drive the technology roadmap. Collaborate with stakeholders to shape the future of High Voltage and Low Voltage infrastructure — including EV chargers, substations, energy efficiency solutions, and IoT technologies (e.g. smart meters).
  • Build the business case. Write and present business cases to leadership to secure approval and funding for new programs.
  • Coordinate at scale. Work alongside project managers to orchestrate large-scale installations across multiple countries.
  • Continuously improve. Champion process improvements in commissioning, auditing, value engineering, and cost control.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

A day in the life

No two days look the same. You might start your morning reviewing substation designs with a manufacturer, spend midday aligning with Operations and Finance on a rollout plan, and end the day presenting a technology roadmap to senior leadership. You'll engage with all levels of the organization — partnering with Operations, RME, Health & Safety, Global Fleet Product, Finance, Procurement, and external vendors — to design and deploy electrical infrastructure across Amazon's EU operational sites.

About The Team

EU Sustainability Engineering owns the definition and continuous improvement of electrical standards for Amazon's EV charging network and smart grid solutions. We obsess over reliability and cost — because we believe waste of resources is one of the greatest threats to meaningful sustainability action. The scale of Amazon's last-mile network means we work in close partnership with Operations, On Road (DSP), and RME teams every single day.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience leading large projects through the full product development life cycle in a large, cross-functional team
  • Experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery, or experience in technical support
