Key Business Announcement

Thermo Fisher Scientific has agreed to sell its Microbiology business to Astorg, a leading pan-European private equity firm specialising in healthcare, particularly in areas such as pharmaceutical services, medtech, diagnostics, and life science tools.

Transition Timeline: The acquisition is expected to complete in the second half of 2026, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals. Until then, Thermo Fisher will continue operating this business.

Important Note for Candidates: If the role is based in transitioning businesses, employment is expected to transfer to Astorg upon transaction completion.

Position Summary: Financial Analyst III – FP&A

Based in Basingstoke, UK, this role will significantly impact the Microbiology Division’s financial strategy, focusing on forecasting, reporting, and long-term planning.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaboration & Coordination

    • Partner with Global Functional Finance Teams (Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, SG&A) and Group/Corporate FP&A to ensure data integrity, precise reporting, and timely performance analysis.
    • Support monthly budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning, including guidance communication, consolidation, and review package preparation.
  • Analytical Reporting

    • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly P&L flashes, delivering insightful commentary on the division’s financial health.
    • Drive accurate forecasting via cash flow analysis, performance bridges, margin analysis, and FX planning.
  • Presentations & Strategic Engagement

    • Lead monthly and quarterly business review decks presented to Divisional and Corporate Leadership for executive decision-making.
  • Process Optimization & System Management

    • Develop financial tools and processes for continuous improvement in data analytics.
    • Subject Matter Expertise: Expertise in Finance/Mgmt reporting systems, particularly Hyperion/CMR, for ongoing corporate finance transformation.

How You’ll Qualify

Education & Experience

One of the following:

  • Advanced Degree plus 3 years of professional experience in Finance
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years of financial analysis experience, ideally in a large global and matrixed organization

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Advanced user of SAP, Hyperion (Hybrid/Planning), Power BI, Cognos, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Communication & Clarity:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to concisely craft clear, insightful reports.
  • Analytical Ripple Effect:
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work under timed constraints.
    • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to deadlines, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

    • In-depth understanding of business processes and financial controls.
    • Ability to identify process weaknesses and propose actionable improvements**.
