Sr Lead Software Engineer - ETC ETRADE INFRA
Senior Software Engineer – Electronic Trading Services Platforms

Within JPMorgan Chase’s Electronic Trading Services Platforms, you’ll serve as a Senior Software Engineer with a 10+ years’ worth of applied expertise, driving innovation and solution delivery across complex engineering challenges in low-latency electronic trading environments.
We’re looking to lead the technical strategy, solve critical compute infrastructure challenges, and act as a guiding force—both in designing solutions and mentoring technical teams. You’ll collaborate closely with Lines of Business, steer high-performance infrastructure strategies, and champion diversity, inclusion, and respect across the firm.
### Key Responsibilities
Collaboratively lead and execute:
- Technical roadmaps aligned with business objectives—delivering against low-latency electronic trading functional requirements.
- Compute infrastructure design and governance (server hardware, OS tuning, automation, and appetite management) across application life-cycle strategies.
- Server/Infrastructure Domain Authority, including build/configuration management, log/metrics aggregation (e.g., ELK stack), and performance benchmarking for compliance and resilience.
- Vendor relationships with hardware/software providers to define next-gen trading platform paradigms and infrastructure roadmaps.
- Technical stewardship and compliance—ensuring coding decisions, control obligations, and observability metrics meet cost efficiency, operational constraints, meet measurable performance metrics.
- Cross-functional tech ownership, streamlining processes and solutions that scale across multiple business domains.
- Executive influence—trasnforming peer decisions and peer tribe ownerships on budget, resource allocation, and implementation execution.

### Core Deliverables
- Develop high-impact technical solutions in alignment with Line of Business priorities.
- Mentor senior staff and software teams (e.g., SREs) on automation and infrastructure best practices.
- Ensure solution effectiveness through governance accountability (e.g., risk metrics, control obligations, performance benchmarks).
- Tops-down governance over coding framework integrity while keeping a pulse on cost of ownership and maintainability.
- Champion opportunity collaboration across counterparties (e.g., development, finance, cybersecurity).
### Required Qualifications
A blend of academic certifications and 10 years’ practical experience in:
- Understanding IP networking, including:
- OSI model fundamentals
- Unicast/broadcast/multicast networking
- Routing, latency optimization strategies
- Deep proficiency in Configuration Management (e.g., Chef or Ansible).
- Storyboarding and leading cross-disciplinary teams (e.g., developers, analysts, architects) with clarity and structure.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Engineering hiring, retention, and recognition strategies.
- Product Owner/Product Management (owning and driving lifecycle success).
Technical Knowledge:
- Expertise in Computer Science / Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Cloud-Native Experience (not a* commodity requirement but expected).

### Preferred Qualifications
- Linux administration (preferably in Red Hat Enterprise Linux) with a focus on:
- Performance tuning and benchmarking within ultra-low-latency environments.
- Meticulous analysis and reporting across research/development/risk scopes.
- Knowledge of:
- Standard cryptographic practices (key pair management, certs, communication security).
- Database Management Systems (DBMS) (primar* ideally PostgreSQL).
- Proficiently:
- Contributing to high-impact automation, cost savings, and earliest detection/prevention of failure.
- Modeling engineering protocols that align with newer Software-defined architectures (SDN, SRE, etc.).
