Senior Lead Software Engineer Payments Technology, JPMorgan Chase
Be an integral part of an agile team that delivers trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, scalable, and high-stability environment.
As a Senior Lead Software Engineer, you’ll collaborate within a dynamic agile team to enhance, develop, and deliver next-generation technology products that drive transformative business impact. Apply your deep technical expertise to solve complex challenges across technologies, architectures and applications.
Job Responsibilities
- Technical leadership: Provide guidance to business units, technical teams, contractors, and vendors in support of strategic roadmaps and execution.
- Code quality & security: Develop, debug, and review secure, high-quality production code (including production validation, debugging, and error correction).
- AI innovation & governance: Champion adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering practices to:
- Improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational accuracy via tools such as:
- Code review/refactoring
- Test acceleration
- Release readiness validation
- Root-cause incident analysis
- Establish measurable standards for AI output validation (secure coding, peer review, automated testing).
- Ensure reusable patterns and automation within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) & Test & Launch Management (TLM) toolchain.
- Improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational accuracy via tools such as:
- Toolchain integration: Apply expertise in SDLC and AI-assisted automation tools (coding, test acceleration, troubleshooting) to unlock scale value from automation.
- Product & process influence: Drive critical design decisions, functionality, operations, and process improvements for clsutomers.
- Subject-matter expertise: Serve as a primary technical SME in one or more key domains.
- Team culture & standards: Evaluate and advocate AI usage while adhering to responsible AI principles—coaching senior engineers on security, data reusonenaches, world-hand button preverhing, compliance, and mitigation.

Key Skills & Requirements
(Experience in Fintech or financial services is desirable but not required.)
- Advanced Education + Experience in Software Engineering: Formal training or certification in SW engineering fundamentals + proven hands-on leadership.
- Full-stack depth to breadth: Practical skills in system design, application development, testing domains, and operational stability.
- Core Language Proficiency: Advanced mastery in one or more modern programming languages* (Java, C++, C#, Python, Go, etc.).
- **Hands-on AI-assisted engineering: Demonstrable experience embedding enterprise-approved tools in workflows, e.g.:
- Automated code recommendation during dev,
- Test enhancement for regression/integration cases,
- Security-focussed incident analysis validation.
- Ability to evaluate and validate AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security—and setting team expectations accordingly.
- Responsible AI Standards: Deep understanding of responsible AI design, including:
- Data sensitivity considerations (PII, compliance, and usage best practices).
- Secure input/output hncling prioritization.
- Adherence to resiliency and security guardrails.
- Independent problem-solving: Capability to address technical design problems, application functionality, systems engineering questions with minimal oversight.
- Cloud-native expertise: Practical experience with containers, microservices, Kubernetes (K8s), and cloud orchestration.
