Sr. Manager, Transfer Pricing & Disputes, Tax – Leeds, UK

About the Role

The Sr. Manager, Transfer Pricing & Disputes, Tax—based in Leeds, UK—provides global leadership for tax planning and controversy matters, collaborating with Finance, Legal, and regional tax teams to design strategies that align with business goals, mitigate risks, and enforce compliance.

This key position will:

  • Drive global tax strategies supporting operational growth.
  • Manage tax audits, disputes, and appeals with tax authorities. -どうしおAlignment with cross-border transfer pricing and complex transactions.
  • Ensure effective financial reporting regarding tax reserves and uncertainties.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Lead global tax planning initiatives to support business strategy and long-term growth.
  • Align tax policies with regional and local teams to ensure consistent governance.
  • Monitor global tax legislation changes and recommend mitigation solutions proactively.

Dispute & Compliance Management

  • Oversee high-impact tax audits, inquiries, appeals, and dispute resolution.
  • Partner with Legal and external advisors to draft response strategies and risk assessments.
  • Provide technical guidance on intercompany arrangements and restructuring efforts.

Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Support financial reporting on tax reserves and audit disclosures.
  • Drive tax process standardization, documentation compliance, and internal controls.
  • Advocate for operational efficiencies in tax compliance and governance.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field (required).
  • Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or MBA (preferred).

Required Experience & Skills

  • 8–10 years of experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or transitioning between both.
  • Proven global tax dispute management, including high-stakes negotiations and mediation.
  • Deep expertise in U.S./international transfer pricing and cross-border tax:
    • Mastery of OECD BEPS principles, arm’s-length standard, and APAs.
    • Understanding of local/regional tax administration laws (BEPS 1–10, countries relevant to healthcare/MedTech).
  • Ability to simplify complex regulations into strategic business advice.
  • Proven stakeholder collaboration with Senior Finance, Legal, and board-level teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.

Preferred Experience

  • Background with global, matrixed organizations across regulated industries (healthcare preferred).
  • Experience leading/coppering external advisors (big 4, tax consultants, law firms).
  • Direct exposure to tax implications of M&A, spin-offs, or restructuring (e.g., separation of DePuy Synthes financials).
  • CPA/JD or equivalent certification.
  • Process optimization initiatives (e.g., automation in documentation, master file reviews).

Soft Skills & Requirments

  • Bilingual in English (foreign language skills a plus).
  • Travel: Up to 20% (domestic/occasional international) to meet with tax authorities, clients, and colleagues.
  • Credentials: Preference for CPA, JD, or tax explicit FINRA.
  • Flexibility: Position requires adaptability to regulatory changes in cross-border work.
