Description
EU Operations Sustainability drives the decarbonization of Amazon's operational footprint across Europe, focusing on reducing environmental impact from transportation, buildings, and energy consumption. The team develops and executes strategies spanning First Mile, Middle Mile, and Last Mile logistics — including waste circularity, water stewardship, biodiversity and building a culture of Sustainability, at fulfillment centers, sort centers and delivery stations. Working cross-functionally with EU Operations, WW Sustainability, engineering and procurement, the EU Ops Sustainability team translates Amazon's Climate Pledge commitments into actionable programs with measurable targets. The team also navigates the evolving European regulatory landscape to ensure compliance while identifying opportunities to accelerate decarbonization ahead of mandated timelines.
EU Ops Sustainability is looking for a Sr. Program Manager to lead inventory waste avoidance across all miles. In this role, you will own strategic, tactical, and cross-functional projects and programs within the STEP organisation to meet sustainability goals. You will be responsible for scoping and creating project plans, developing processes, coordinating and driving execution, and communicating to senior management on status, risks and process/product changes.
In this role you will work with senior leaders across multiple organizations and geographies, and balance customer research, data analysis, project and stakeholder management, and internal/external communication.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage full lifecycle complex cross-functional programs with considerable impact across multiple organizations
- Work closely with partner teams and stakeholders in and outside of your organization to deliver; partner with teams to source, allocate, and coordinate resources
- Analyze data and drive improvements that are quantified with metrics
- Own reporting on the state of initiatives, measuring improvements and impact of changes.
- Work autonomously in an ambiguous environment, seeking to understand business problems, automation limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions and reasons behind leadership decisions
- Solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks (before they become roadblocks)
- Work with program managers, business leaders and executive team to communicate and impact critical business initiatives
- Develop, implement, and govern Key Performance Metrics (KPI) reporting for a portfolio of programs, providing visibility to the milestones, and performance across all projects
- Set-up mechanisms to audit and perform necessary course corrections where needed to meet business objectives

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
