Sr Product Manager
BS&U – Building Services
The Building Services product portfolio of BS&U includes our Variable Flow range which is comprised of ProBalance and Connected Solutions products that are manufactured primarily at our Hitchin site in the UK. The business operates predominantly in the UK and MEA region through distribution channels, driven by specification and sales activities.
Principle Responsibilities
The Senior Product Manager role involves managing 3 main areas; developing and executing product roadmaps, ownership of strategic initiatives, and supporting the P&L through ownership of Variable Flow range commercial performance vs expectations.
The role requires the candidate to scope, pitch business cases, and report on execution. The main duties include the identification and justification of NPD, CAPEX investments, commercial management to support geographic and product line growth and profitability, support operational planning, monitoring and reporting business performance targets, market analysis, and competitor analysis.
Build and maintain product road maps
The Senior Product Manager will be, or shall become, totally familiar with the NPD Process and will be expected to:
Build and maintain multigenerational product road maps. Deliver NPD execution on plan, in budget and in scope. Be the primary source of voice of customer for product categories. Pitch and be responsible for monitoring and managing capital expenditure to support the roadmaps. Engage commercial teams to ensure product line profitability is in line with P&L targets. Drive operations and commercial collaboration to deliver products in line with business model targets. Support monthly ideation funnel development. Use sales, win/loss and quality concerns data as part of voice of customer analysis.
Ownership of strategic initiatives
The Senior Product Manager will become proficient with the CRANE strategic planning cycle and will be expected to:
Directly lead voice of customer engagement to validate competitor analysis, market sizes, customer pain points and technology trends. Support the development, presentation, monitoring and execution of strategic and operational initiatives in line with planned commitments. Own the delivery of assigned initiatives and drive execution. Identify new opportunities for the business within existing and new markets. Detailed monitoring and reporting of market segmentation, customer profiles and windows to market. Support in the delivery of artificial intelligence and digital marketing initiatives as part of growth initiatives.

Support P&L operations
The Senior Product Manager Will Become Familiar With The CRANE P&L Management To Be Able To Support The Operational Planning Cycle And Will Be Expected To
Directly support the Business Line Manager in converting strategic targets into operational targets for the year. Work collaboratively with commercial, supply chain, and operational teams to complete the sales inventory and operations planning process regularly in line with the planned cost of sales. Engage with commercial teams to understand monthly regional forecasts and product line performance. Identify, scope and lead the delivery of regional and customer-specific initiatives to deliver on-plan performance for product lines and regions. Detailed monitoring and reporting of forecasts, pricing, cost of sales for end-of-month reviews. Identify and support marketing and commercial launch requirements for existing or new products. Understand and deploy the engineering change process as and when required to support product line deviations or NPD. Identify non-compliance with existing business model, and opportunities to improve. Support the analysis and development of new channels within existing and new markets. Support effective commercial pipeline reviews and quality. Work closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering and Quality to deliver cost savings from current product ranges or increase revenue via redesigning or resourcing the product.
Other
Use initiative to fulfil role and proactively address improvement opportunities. To provide training and education of personnel in all details of the relevant product range, including travel to foreign countries. Drive their own improvement and special projects delivering tangible results in a timely manner.

Deep experience and knowledge of control valves related to commercial building services and their application is essential. 5+ years proven experience in Product Management. Ideally educated to degree level in a technical and/or business management subject, however relevant experience is highly valued. Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills. Positive, proactive and pragmatic approach to problem solving. Innovative and forward thinking. Team working and interpersonal skills. Highly proficient in the use of Excel as the main analysis and reporting tool, and high degree of competency in Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work on their own initiative, communicate well and build relationships with other departments, and be diligent in following the processes for NPD, VE, and Engineering Change requirements.
