Senior Python Backend Engineer
Remote from LATAM | Full-Time | $4000-$5200 USD/Month | Contractor

About the Opportunity
Our client is an industry-leading healthtech company experiencing rapid growth and building innovative healthcare solutions from the ground up. They are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join their engineering team and help scale their Remote Patient Monitoring platform.
In this role, you'll work closely with the Lead Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain secure, high-performance backend systems that directly impact patient care. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment while taking ownership of complex technical initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build, and optimize scalable backend services using Python and Django REST Framework.
- Develop and maintain high-performance RESTful APIs.
- Build and support microservices that integrate with third-party platforms, including logistics providers (3PLs) and ERP systems.
- Own features from technical design through testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Implement secure coding practices and help ensure compliance with healthcare data privacy standards.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience developing production-grade backend applications.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python and Django REST Framework (DRF).
- Strong experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
- Experience building scalable microservices and distributed systems.
- Solid experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including:
- AWS Lambda
- Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)
- EC2
- S3
- Strong understanding of software architecture, performance optimization, and backend best practices.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Advanced English communication skills (written and spoken).
