Job Description Summary

As our new Sr Staff Data Scientist, at Dowty, a GE Aerospace company, you'll work individually and/or lead horizontal teams to develop AI / ML / advanced analytics solutions which bring demonstrable value to Dowty (a GE Aerospace business). You'll be able to quickly assimilate customer requirements and translate these into timely, impactful, working solutions. You'll have a strong appreciation of how analytics will be deployed and used by our internal Dowty customers. In this role you will be continuously exercising your analytic expertise, cross-domain knowledge and user experience skillset, as well as identifying new technologies to work on. You will lead and support junior team members.

You will work closely with Dowty functional leaders to identify and prioritise suitable, impactful AI/ML projects and actively support business specific FLIGHT DECK initiatives including Kaizens, VSMs and gembas. You will be constantly engaging with the customer to maintain project focus and relevance. You will work with local DT staff to ensure solution compatibility with existing business IT and data systems.

In this role you will be physically located within the Dowty office, reporting to the UK Sr Director of Data Science.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong Python scripting capability.
  • Confident user of Version Control, ideally Github.
  • Develop, test and release maintainable code; follow coding standards and analytic development process.
  • Experience of using analytics development platforms and deployed analytics architectures.
  • Advanced modelling techniques – including integrating previous pre-trained models with simulations or other advanced modelling.
  • Awareness of different solutions for model management that includes model building and deployment.
  • Determines and executes model validation, reproducibility, and deployment criteria.
  • Ability to get results fast - leveraging existing scripts, determining when adequate solutions or decision options are found, and correlate output to real-life outcomes.
  • Champion of FLIGHTDECK fundamentals and Lean processes.
  • Demonstrated skill in defining and delivering customer value.
  • Guides/mentors others in AI, ML and programming tasks.
  • Collaborates with domain experts to derive insight from massive, dynamic, ambiguous, and often conflicting data.
