Position Summary
This position is responsible for designing, managing, and coordinating the development of technical training for customers, F5 employees, and channel partners in all F5 theatres. It offers the opportunity to work in a highly technical environment with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to create compelling technical training content. It is an opportunity to assist other technical employees in honing their technical expertise to meet client demands and showcase effective use of F5 solutions.
This opportunity is perfect for someone who wants to apply their instructional design, content development, and technical skills, to work with a broad spectrum of internal SMEs, from engineers and internal support teams to consulting specialists, to create focused technical training content.
Primary Responsibilities
- Defining the overall technical vision and requirements of new training offering or training series
- Creating the vision and solution framework to fulfill the defined business requirements while working within established guidelines and templates
- Defining training requirements, workflow, processes, scope, and curriculum of the solution or series
- Managing and communicating the project plan, schedule, and status
- Designing and developing new technical training courses / learning path for various customer audiences
- Completing training needs analysis, audience analysis, and defining project scope and requirements
- Determining pre-requisites and appropriate delivery methodology for new training content
- Creating design specifications for course / learning path
- Creating and documenting new development processes and templates, as needed
- Coordinating beta-teach activities with technical trainers and incorporating feedback
- Managing and communicating the development plan, schedule, and status
- Managing multiple course development projects including scope, dev-plan, schedule, milestones, and status
- Updating existing training content for new product releases and updates
- Completing training needs analysis
- Creating course development plan / schedule
- Coordinating SMEs / course developers, who are assisting in the development of technical training content
- Facilitating course-dev working sessions to complete content development within scheduled timeline
- Assist course developers in resolving content development issues
- Delivering technical training and Train-the-Trainer classes
- Delivering Train-the-Trainer classes for F5 and Authorized Training Center (ATC) trainers
- Delivering technical product training in instructor-led classes periodically on newly developed topics
- Auditing class delivery to ensure consistency and discover areas for improvement
- Upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and promptly reporting violations of codes or company policies
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Formal training in adult education or instructional design in technical knowledge areas is required
- Proficient in the application of training materials to various deliver modes including instructor-led, remote/virtual instructor-led, self-paced web-based, blended learning, micro-modules, and hands-on technical labs is required
- Proficient in project management skills; working on multiple projects; working with engineers, technical writers and trainers, to ensure that quality requirements are met and delivered within specified timelines
- Technical expertise with MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, and rapid authoring tools is required
- Demonstrate knowledge/skills in the following:
- CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment): Building automated pipelines with tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitLab CI.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Docker and Kubernetes for packaging and managing applications.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Provisioning and managing infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
- Scripting & Programming: Python, Bash, or Ruby for automation.
- Version Control: Git (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket) is fundamental.
- Linux/Unix: Strong command-line and system administration skills.
- Web Application development and tools.
- AI concepts and methods of implementation.
- Experience with prompting AI for expediting content creation and problem solving.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, internetworking technology, or education is preferred
- At least 8 years of experience in instructional design/technical content development
- At least 6 years technical training delivery
- At least 3 years of experience in the computer networking industry

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting/standing at a desk or computer table
- Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate, and read printed material
- Duties periodically require being on-call and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends)
- Duties require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 5% of the time
- Job may be performed on-site at a customer facility or in an office environment

Hybrid/Remote
- Hybrid: Employees within 30 commutable miles of an F5 office are required to work from the office a minimum of 30 business days per quarter.
- Remote: Primarily work from designated home location but can come into an F5 office to work or travel to an offsite location as needed.
