The Team You’ll Work With
HSBC Innovation Banking’s Strategic Fund Solutions (“SFS”) team manages key aspects of the bank’s relationships with Private Equity, Private Credit and Venture Capital clients. SFS optimises the client experience through dedicated relationship management and by delivering the breadth of HSBC’s capabilities to the sector, including banking, lending, treasury and foreign exchange.
Emerging Managers is a specialist coverage team within SFS, focused on building trusted banking relationships with the UK’s most exciting emerging and established venture capital firms. We’re seeking an SVP-level relationship banker to lead a portfolio of VC relationships while also managing and developing junior team members.
The Value You’ll Add
- Own a portfolio with clear accountability for relationship strategy, revenue growth, and client experience across banking, lending, treasury and FX
- Lead end-to-end delivery by coordinating product, credit, operations and onboarding teams—removing friction and improving the client journey
- Drive origination and expansion through disciplined pipeline management, strategic account planning and effective prioritisation
- Set the standard on risk and controls, ensuring high-quality KYC, financial crime and compliance outcomes and proactive management of relationship risk
- Represent HINV externally through an active industry network and visible participation in relevant events and conferences
- Manage and develop junior colleagues, providing coaching, quality oversight and clear direction, and building a high-performing, collaborative coverage culture
- Deliver measurable client advocacy outcomes, including sustained improvement in client experience and NPS

What You Can Expect To Be Doing
- Act as the Global Relationship Manager to develop and manage relationships with a portfolio of emerging and established Venture Capital clients
- Anticipate client needs and manage client concerns with internal operations and product groups as appropriate
- Support the Head of Emerging Managers to develop and execute against a business plan to improve client experience and drive business growth
- Significantly contribute to the acquisition of new clients and strategic account planning initiatives in conjunction with the Origination team and other key stakeholders
- Lead conversations with new prospective clients and support them through the full client lifecycle
- Think creatively and leverage the HSBC platform to develop solutions to client needs that go beyond basic banking and lending products
- Be responsible for managing relationship risk (e.g. compliance, KYC, financial crime) and ensuring compliance with risk policies
- Develop and maintain an external industry network, acting as an ambassador for SFS through attendance at relevant events and conferences
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders to drive collaboration across relevant business functions and other front-line teams
- Take a lead role in driving marketing, events and sponsorships activity and initiatives
- Identify and drive process improvements to optimise the client experience
- Line manage and develop junior colleagues within Coverage and the wider SFS team, including coaching, performance support and on-the-job development

Requirements
- Proven relevant experience leading client relationships and delivering banking and lending solutions
- Good understanding of the fund and management company level needs of Venture capital firms and the broader industry
- Comprehensive understanding of financial and non-financial risks, with a strong track record of operating within risk policies and controls
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Passion for building relationships and delivering exceptional client experience
