SSAS Client Services Team Leader

The SSAS Client Services Team Leader is responsible for managing a client-facing pensions team, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality, compliant services to SSAS and related scheme clients. The role combines team leadership, operational oversight, and client service excellence, with accountability for performance, productivity, and regulatory adherence. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential for extension. The role can be based in our Leeds or Liverpool office, working on a hybrid basis.


A Snapshot Of Your Day

  • Manage a team of up to 12 people, including handling:

    • Personal team requirements (e.g., approving holidays, flexible working requests, return-to-work discussions)
    • Managing sickness absence and long-term health issues
    • Overseeing performance management
  • Ensure team effectiveness through:

    • Identifying skills gaps and scheduling coaching and training, aligned with documented procedures
    • Conducting regular work planning meetings and monthly team review meetings to support adaptability to process and policy changes

  • Hold day-to-day responsibility for:

    • Team workload and service standards
    • Escalating issues to the SSAS Management Committee
    • Providing management information and input into the recruitment process
  • Conduct monthly one-to-ones, mid-year reviews, and annual appraisals:

    • Agree annual personal development plans
    • Deliver constructive feedback to foster growth

Requirements & Desirable Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience as a Team Leader in a pensions and/or finance services company
  • Proven track record of leading a dedicated team
  • GCSE Maths/English at Grade C/5 or National 5 Maths/English at Grade C (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Knowledge of SSASs, SIPPs, and FURBS (not essential but useful)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word (basic IT skills required)
  • Strong IT competence (essential for day-to-day operations)
