Spire Leeds is recruiting for a Sterile Services Department (SSD) Assistant to play a key role in the multi-disciplinary theatre team, ensuring high standards of care through meticulous instrument cleaning, sterilisation, and packaging. This is a physically demanding role requiring heavy lifting.
Hours: 20hrs/week (flexible shift patterns), Permanent Training & Development: Available
About the Hospital
Located in Roundhay, Leeds, the Spire Leeds Hospital has provided exceptional care for nearly 30 years as the region’s largest private hospital. Facilities include:
- Four operating theatres
- Sterile Services Department
- Dedicated endoscopy suite
- Diagnostic and imaging centre (including MRI & CT scanners)
- Outpatient and physiotherapy services (open six days a week)
Key Responsibilities
As an SSD Assistant, you will:
- Clean, inspect, assemble, and pack surgical instruments
- Decontaminate endoscopes for the endoscopy department
- Pack instruments for sterilisation and accurately log tracking systems
- Monitor equipment functionality (sterilisation & decontamination)
- Ensure correct instruments are prepared for theatre use
- Work flexibly as part of a fast-paced team (including Saturdays when required)
