Location
This role covers a region across Oxford, Andover, Salisbury and Yeovil but we would consider applicants nationwide.
Salary & Contract
- Salary: Competitive plus vehicle
- Contract Type: Permanent (preferred)
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday – outages on site, admin and planning from home
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Authorised Person (SAP), 11 - 33kV to lead and manage the tree cutting electrical provision team within Ground Control’s operational area with SSE. As the lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Deliver[ing] their own tree cutting related power outages
- Lead[ing] all other tree-cutting outages carried out by a small team of subcontractor SAP’s
Key Responsibilities

Planning & Delivery:
- Ensure efficient and comprehensive planning and delivery of all individual and team-assigned tree cutting power outages.

Electrical Safety & Provision:
- Apply/remove/oversee the use of earths, backfeeds, and ground generation when required (11–33kV).

Programme Leadership:
- Drive the delivery of the overall tree cutting programme, aligning with quality, safety, operational excellence, and value to Ground Control and its Clients.

Team Management:
- Lead and manage subcontractor and team activities to meet contractual commitments in time, cost, and quality.

- Budget Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing budgets relating to electrical provision.

Requirements & Qualifications

SSE Certification:
- Current SSE Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation with Field Control (11–33kV) essential; only current SSE holders will be considered.

Education/Education Experience:
- HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

Industry Knowledge:
- Knowledge of UK Power Networks electrical shutdown provision (or other DNO processes, rules & regulations).

Soft Skills:
- Ability to identify problems, understand key issues, and investigate alternatives.

Licence:
- Hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
