EYFS Nursery Teaching Assistant (Level 3) – St George’s CE Primary School
Job Title & Details
Role: Permanent Nursery Teaching Assistant (Level 3) – 2-Year-Old Provision Location: St George’s CofE Primary School, London (SE23) Start Date: 1st September 2026 Contract: Term-time only, 35 hrs/week, 39 weeks per year Grade: Scale 5 – Spinal Points 13–15 Salary: £34,863–£35,892 (pro rata, subject to pay review) Facilities:
- Newly built early years block with large outdoor area

About the Role
You’ll lead a 2-year-old classroom under close supervision of our EYFS leader, shaping children’s early learning experiences through play-based, engaging activities. You’ll:
- Work with a supportive, Ofsted-rated team delivering the EYFS curriculum
- Assist in planning, delivering, and reviewing age-appropriate activities
- Develop a small teaching assistant team and help establish daily routines
- Track children’s progress and ensure high safeguarding standards
- Collaborate with parents and external agencies (e.g., health visitors, social care)
- Support transition to pre-school and nursery classes

Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver play-based learning adapted to 2-year-olds’ needs, aligning with the EYFS Framework
- Support behaviour management, emotional development, and social interaction
- Maintain strict safeguarding practices (risk assessments, incidents, and reporting)
- Track progress toward age-specific milestones using age-appropriate tools
- Assist in staff development (e.g., staff meetings, training)
- Work closely with parents to promote strong home-school partnerships
- Ensure all EYFS sites are safe, clean, and suitably equipped
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of early years regulations, child protection, and First Aid

Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (e.g., Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship)
- Proven experience working with 2-year-olds, including behaviour management in a structured environment
- Strong skills in child-led play and understanding of pedagogical approaches
- Outstanding communication, active listening, and nurturing qualities
- Knowledge of EYFS statutory requirements and safeguarding laws
- Paediatric First Aid qualification (or commitment to complete one soon)
- Flexible attitude with enthusiasm for early years development
