This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer - Submission Processing based in the United Kingdom.

Join a high-impact engineering team building advanced AI-powered systems that transform how complex industries make critical decisions. In this role, you will work at the intersection of backend engineering, artificial intelligence, and large-scale data processing to create reliable systems that handle billions of unstructured data points. As a Staff Engineer, you will have significant ownership over architecture, technical direction, and end-to-end solutions while solving challenging problems that require creativity and deep technical expertise. You will collaborate with a talented global team in a fast-moving environment where experimentation, ownership, and measurable customer impact are central. This is an opportunity to shape the future of AI-driven workflows while contributing directly to products used in real-world, high-stakes scenarios.

Accountabilities

  • Design, build, and scale backend systems that power AI-driven workflows for processing and analyzing large volumes of complex, unstructured data.
  • Take ownership of technical direction within the Submission Processing team, making architectural decisions and driving engineering excellence.
  • Develop and maintain LLM-based systems capable of extracting insights, automating workflows, and supporting critical business decisions.
  • Build robust, scalable infrastructure using cloud technologies, asynchronous processing patterns, and modern backend engineering practices.
  • Lead system design discussions, identify technical challenges, and deliver solutions from concept through production with minimal oversight.
  • Improve reliability, performance, and scalability of backend services while maintaining high engineering standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, translate requirements into technical solutions, and deliver measurable customer impact.
  • Experiment with new technologies, evaluate approaches, and iterate quickly to solve complex problems that have not been solved before.
  • Mentor engineers, contribute to technical culture, and help establish best practices across engineering teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
