We are working with a highly successful, fast-scaling FinTech platform that is fundamentally transforming data infrastructure and workflow automation across global financial markets.

They have proven product-market fit, their AI-powered platform is already trusted by over 300+ companies worldwide, including global banks, private equity firms, and asset managers.

The business is heavily internationalising the core product and building new ones to help spearhead this next chapter of hyper-growth. They are investing heavily in their technical leadership layer to run cross-functional squads and take ownership of products.

About The Role - Staff Engineer, Python | AI-Driven FinTech, Series C | 1-2 Days Hybrid, London | Up to £165,000+ Equity & Benefits

You will be joining as a hands-on technical leader on the Individual Contributor (IC) track, taking ownership of the technical vision and system design for a major expanding engineering division. They value engineers who move seamlessly between deep-dive debugging and high-level system architecture, partnering closely with over 6+ engineering teams to raise the technical bar across the organisation.

Beyond driving core Python backend development, you will influence broad technical strategy, participate in governance, and guide cross-team architecture to prevent unnecessary complexity and coupling.

Requirements For The Role

  • Extensive experience building, delivering, and scaling backend systems from development through to production, specifically within data-intensive environments.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, complex relational domains, and entity resolution/mapping.
  • Proven experience with platform modularisation, database decoupling, and service-oriented or event-driven architectures.
  • High proficiency in Python (or similar backend languages), alongside familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and containerisation (Kubernetes).
  • A strong product and customer-centric mindset, comfort driving clarity through ambiguity, and a history of end-to-end technical project ownership.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to create clear technical documentation and align both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
