Staff Nurse

NMC-Registered Nurse – Cardiac Nurse (Heart and Lung Directorate)

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH)

We are looking for friendly, highly skilled and dedicated NMC-registered nurses to join Great Ormond Street Hospital and contribute to our well-established cardiac nursing team.

About the Role

This is an exciting time for cardiac nursing at GOSH. We are expanding our cardiac services, embarking on a world-leading cardiac programme, and opening a 16-bedded high-dependency unit (HDU) to support children needing cardiac surgery. This initiative aims to provide timely patient care and streamlined discharges.

Our current wards—Bear and Alligator ward—manage 24 beds (including 8 HDU beds): specialising in cardiac and thoracic patients, from heart, lungs and tracheal care. GOSH is the UK centre for paediatric pulmonary hypertension, catering to patients up to 18 years old.

Common cases include:

  • CPAP therapy
  • Optiflow support
  • Chest drain management
  • Inotropes
  • Total parenteral nutrition (TPN)
  • Blood transfusions
  • Pacemaker onboarding
  • Pre-/post-heart/lung transplant patients

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
