Job Overview

The Staff Nurse plays a key role in delivering high-quality, safe, and compassionate patient care within the clinical team. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based nursing care, ensuring patients receive individualised treatment that promotes dignity, wellbeing, and positive health outcomes. Main Duties of the Job

Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for delivering safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients while supporting the wider multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities and tasks will include:

• Provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care in accordance with Trust policies, professional standards, and evidence-based practice.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients, ensuring individual needs and preferences are recognised and respected.
• Administer medication and treatments safely, in line with local protocols, NICE guidance, and the NMC Code.
• Monitor and record patients’ physical and emotional wellbeing, escalating concerns or deterioration promptly to the appropriate clinician.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records using electronic and paper-based systems as required.
• Work collaboratively with doctors, allied health professionals, healthcare assistants, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to support coordinated care.
• Provide health education, advice, and emotional support to patients, relatives, and carers to promote recovery and wellbeing.
• Participate in handovers, ward rounds, team meetings, ward rounds, audits, and service improvement initiatives.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and therapeutic clinical environment, adhering to infection prevention and control procedures.
• Support the supervision and development of junior staff, students, and new team members where appropriate.
• Maintain professional competence through mandatory training, continuing professional development, and reflective practice.
