Staff Nurse

Job Opportunity: Staff Nurse – Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Service, York

About the Role

We’d love for you to join us as a Staff Nurse at our Woodlands Rehabilitation Service in York.

Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre specialises in:

  • Level 2A neurological rehabilitation
  • Treatment and slow stream rehabilitation
  • Residential and respite care for up to 27 adults
  • Neurobehavioural services

As part of our Active Neuro service, Woodlands offers award-winning rehabilitation for adults with neurological conditions resulting from injury, illness, or disease. We’ve invested in cutting-edge technology and fostered a supportive environment to optimise patient recovery, ensuring everyone receives high-quality, personalised care in a safe, happy, and empowering space.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Working hours: 42 hours per week (rotating shift across Monday to Sunday).
    • Both full-time and part-time hours available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Primary Nurse, providing nursing assessments and care plans for residents.
  • Lead MDT (Multi-Disciplinary Team) work, manage risk assessments, and contribute to continuous clinical improvement initiatives.
  • Compile and submit nursing reports for statutory and clinical reviews.
  • Operate as either a named nurse or key worker, ensuring personalised support aligns with each patient’s outcomes.
  • Ensure comprehensive person-centred assessments for residents, maintaining meticulous documentation and filing.
  • Oversee clinical areas within your designated responsibility.
  • Provide specialised nursing interventions with expertise in evidence-based models tailored to patient needs.
  • Operate autonomously, demonstrating clinical safety and competence.
  • Exhibit flexibility in duty hours to meet the service’s 24-hour needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • A current NMC Pin (Registered Nurse) registration.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Previous experience as a Band 5 nurse within a neurological setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex patient cases, leveraging:
    • Advanced clinical reasoning for assessments, diagnosis, and support planning.
    • Supervision of support workers, fostering their development.
  • Commitment to clinical excellence, integrating:
    • Current evidence-based practice, national guidelines, and outcome measures into daily work.
