Child Registered Nurse (Band 6) – CYP Daycare & Outpatients, The Royal Marsden Hospital

The busy CYP Daycare and Outpatients unit treats over 6,000 patients annually, delivering systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), radiotherapy, and supportive care to children and young people aged 1 to 24. This unique service within the Royal Marsden Hospital offers unparalleled experience in cancer care delivery, SACT administration, and specialised paediatric oncology.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Child Registered Nurse with:

  • The drive and passion to lead projects, enhancing patient care and service delivery
  • A founding qualification in oncology or relevant specialism for a Band 6 post (though we will support your professional development journey)
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to positive role modelling for both the team and pre/post registration placements

The successful candidate will contribute to unit leadership, aligning service improvements with the Trust’s values, while demonstrating exceptional patient-centered care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, document, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for cancer patients (ages 1–24), in collaboration with the shift co-ordinator
  • Develop an enhanced understanding of:
    • Paediatric oncology needs
    • Different treatment modalities in the unit
    • Shift management, under the guidance of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse
  • Champion continuous improvement in patient care and team development
