Staff Nurse (Band 6) Children & Young Adult Day Unit

Child Registered Nurse Band 6 – CYP Daycare and Outpatients The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust

About the Team and Role

Our busy CYP (Child and Young Person’s) Daycare and Outpatients unit sees over 6,000 patients annually, delivering systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), radiotherapy, and supportive care to patients aged 1 to 24 years old.

This makes the CYPDU (CYP Daycare and Outpatients Unit) a unique service within the Royal Marsden Hospital. We’re looking for passionate, driven Child Registered Nurses—with the potential to grow with us—who are eager to shape the future of cancer care delivery and SACT administration in paediatrics.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Gain essential experience across paediatric oncology and cancer care.
  • Contribute ideas and lead projects to enhance patient care pathways.
  • Play an active leadership role in the unit, supporting trust-wide improvements aligned with our values.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Patient Care

  • Coordinate and supervise shifts, ensuring high-quality, evidence-led care through effective communication across a multidisciplinary team.
  • Apply clinical judgment to assess long-term patient needs and contribute to individual care plans.
  • Actively participate in daily operations, including clinical trial coordination:
    • Recruit patients, provide necessary patient education.
    • Monitor trial progress and liaise with trial sponsors as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
