Job Overview
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is seeking experienced dynamic, motivated, and enthusiastic Staff Nurses to join our friendly and supportive teams. The Trust is a designated major trauma centre, housing general and specialist Critical Care services, including Cardiac ICU, Neuro ICU, and General ICU.
Cardiac ICU is a fast-paced, specialist environment that emphasises:

We provide:

Main Duties & Responsibilities
As a Staff Nurse in Cardiac ICU, you will:
- Provide a high standard of individualised patient care, following agreed policies and resource constraints.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in pressurised environments with maturity, motivation, and professional judgement.
- Be committed to the Trust’s core values, ensuring evidence-based, patient-centred care.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
- Registered on the appropriate part of the UK nursing register
- Knowledge of current acute healthcare issues
- Understanding of personal accountability
- Awareness of team dynamics and one’s own role
- Evidence of teaching and supporting learners (where applicable)
- Understanding of evidence-based practice
- Compliance with infection control standards
- Commitment to ongoing personal development
- Ability to use initiative
Desirable Criteria
- Recent further education or study
- Previous experience or qualification in a related specialty
- Teaching or mentoring experience
